When Things Go Wrong

Emergency Recovery

Crises in China are harder because everything — the police station, the hospital, the rail rebooking app — is in Mandarin. We're the bilingual person you need when it's urgent.

What we handle

Situations we've seen before

Lost or stolen passport

We go with you to the local police station for the report, contact your embassy, and help arrange emergency travel documents.

Medical emergency

We identify the right hospital for foreigners in your city, accompany you or coordinate remotely, translate with medical staff, and communicate with your insurer.

Payments blocked or frozen

WeChat Pay suspended, Alipay account frozen, or card declined everywhere — we diagnose and resolve, or arrange cash bridge while you wait.

Missed train, cancelled flight, stranded

We rebook in real time via Chinese-language apps, handle customer service calls in Mandarin, and find you alternatives fast.

Legal or police situation

Document translation, interpreter service during questioning, and immediate connection to embassy emergency lines.

Family emergency back home

You need to leave China immediately. We handle exit logistics — rebook flights, cancel hotels, expedite checkout, and get you to the airport.

Peace of mind

The $10/day safety net

Add this to any route booking or standalone trip. For $10 per day, you get a direct WhatsApp/WeChat emergency line that's answered within 2 hours, seven days a week. No incident, no charge beyond the retainer.

If something does happen, the per-session rate ($180 half / $300 full) applies only to the day you need us — the retainer covers everything else.

Questions

How fast can you respond?
Same-day response during Beijing business hours (09:00–20:00 CST). For Trip Add-on subscribers, we guarantee a callback within 2 hours, 7 days a week.
What does the Trip Add-on cover?
The $10/day add-on gives you a direct emergency line (WhatsApp + WeChat) and priority response during your trip. If an incident requires in-person support, you pay the per-session rate for that day only.
Do you handle situations outside Beijing and Shanghai?
Remote support (phone, WeChat, translation, rebooking) works anywhere in China. In-person support is available in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Guangzhou. For other cities, we will coordinate a trusted local contact.
Does my travel insurance cover this?
Most travel insurers cover emergency assistance costs — we provide a detailed invoice you can submit for reimbursement. We'll help you file if needed.
